OUTING Garden Group Outing to Essex
Thursday 21 September 2017

Marks Hall arboretum is planted on a geographical theme with plants from the temperate regions of the world grouped together. There are woodland walks with lakes as well as a walled garden which contains five separate gardens within it.

Spencers garden covers a total of 100 acres. It was laid out by the granddaughter of the 1st Duke of Marlborough Lady Anne Spencer. M.P. "Rab" Butler lived here in the 1970s & 80s. It has been renovated by the well known designer Ton Stuart Smith in recent years. There are spectacular borders together with extensive parkland to enjoy here.
